About The Practice

‘As the river surrenders itself to the Ocean, what is inside me moves inside you.’

Kabir

Move with Ingrid is a dance practice for those who wish to expand their self-awareness.

As a practice, dance is a dynamic - rather than a static - form of meditation.  Through movement - from solo practice to connection with others - we explore body-language in both time and space.

One similarity with silent meditation is that - at times - we focus inwards, learning to be present with every emotion and sensation, every feeling and energetic shift.

One difference, however, is that there are times when we focus outwardly. At times we focus on our physical body, on the dance itself. At times we connect with other dancers, creating shapes together. Connecting in this way may result in a different set of feelings or shift in energy, causing focus to move back inwards.

As our focus shifts from the internal to the external we learn to discover certain patterns. This shifting scenery of thoughts and emotions we come to recognise as our conditioned-self. Awareness of such patterns is the first step in liberating ourselves from them.

Dancing as meditation, therefore, offers a multi-dimensional path to expansion beyond the borders of self-limitation, by increasing our physical, emotional, and spiritual self-awareness.

Just as our ancestors danced, we learn to move to the ancient pulse of our spiritual hearts. Dancing in the heart-space, we move from contraction to expansion, from confusion to clarity, and from chaos to peace, eventually finding the rhythm of our true-selves.

My role is simply to support you on your dance journey; to move with you, to inspire you, helping you give yourself permission to let go.

The door is always open for discovery. Through dance we express that for which there are no words. In this way movement brings clarity, allowing the soul to express its essence for all the world to see.’
